THE CLASH
Combat rock at the crossroads of West London punk fury, Jamaican roots dub sound systems, and anti-fascist Carnival Against the Nazis solidarity.
Formed in Shepherd's Bush and Ladbroke Grove, West London in 1976 by Joe Strummer, Mick Jones, Paul Simonon, and Terry Chimes (soon joined by Topper Headon). Fusing ferocious street punk with reggae, dub, rockabilly, and funk on landmark albums like 'The Clash' (1977) and 'London Calling' (1979), they stood as punk's most politically fearless global force.

Frontman and lyrical conscience of The Clash. With his stenciled black-painted 1966 Fender Telecaster ('Ignore Alien Orders') and fierce right-hand strumming attack, Joe Strummer bridged West London squat-rock fury with Jamaican dub sound systems and global working-class solidarity.
